Coromandel 0/26 (10) (Thomas-Averis 15*, Chambers 9*)

Day Two

An opening partnership of 102 between Casey Thomas-Averis and Ashleigh Chambers set up an easy win and Jai Jones is a satisfied captain with his team unbeaten after round four.
Coromandel were chasing 126 to win in 50 overs after a fine bowling and fielding performance last week, highlighted by a spectacular one handed, running, diving catch by Max Cheek.
Resuming at 26 without loss, the openers began cautiously and then accelerated the scoring rate, the total moving from 50 to 102 in only 10 overs. The left and right handed combination was proving successful and the bowlers seemingly had no answers as the batsmen approached their half-centuries.
The win seemed a mere formality at drinks with the score at 0/102 after 30 overs. However as is customary with drinks breaks, the partnership was broken and both openers dismissed within five minutes of the resumption. Coach Tim Hanna may also need to inspect the contents of the refreshments, after his team lost five wickets in 25 minutes after the break and were looking shaky with the score at 5/115.
Calm in a crisis, some responsible batting by Jai Jones and Steve Woods saw the team home safely without further loss.
For the record, Ashleigh and Casey fell short of their half-centuries by just one and two runs respectively. Their contribution is the first century partnership for the club since the commencement of junior matches last season.

Day Two

So close yet so far, a second consecutive loss by the narrowest of margins for the Under 13. Requiring two to win off the last ball, a run-out left the team two runs short of victory.
A proud moment for scorer Linda Sargent - son David joining older brother Peter for the first time. David's boundary off the second last ball of the innings was nearly enough to get Coromandel over the line.
