First Innings Loss
In one of five matches that were reschuduled to one-day games following rain
in the first week, the 1st XI produced a dramatic (and forgettable) form
reversal from round one last season. Back then, Matt Laming's team celebrated
his captaincy debut with a record score and a crushing win. On this occasion
however, the batting crumbled as Coromandel were dismissed for its second lowest
score ever against the local enemy.
Leading the team again, Laming was the
highest scorer with 13: in his first match as an opening batsman in 1st XI
matches.
On a statistical note:
The club's lowest score against
Coromandel Ramblers is 39 (also at the highest level) at Hawthorndene Oval in
1987.
