Paul Magarey: 1000 runs
ICC Sharks 181 (King 3/35, P. Magarey 2/23)First Innings Win
ICC Sharks 181The dream run of form continues for Mike "Kiwi" Maclean. Undaunted by the transformation from "spatchcock" to "penguinhead" following his long-awaited promotion, Mike's mighty 140 catapulted the 2nd XI to their highest score in nearly five years.
After an inglorious start to the season, dismissed for a third ball duck, the run-machine has now scored centuries in each of his last three innings: the most consecutive centuries since the 1920s. To complete the afternoon, he also became one of the fastest to reach the 2500 run milestone at Coromandel: only seven matches after surpassing 2000 runs.
Maclean and Mark Wicks (10) built the foundation for the innings with an opening partnership 102. After Maclean was dismissed with the score at 177, in only the 36th over, Rahsaan Oakey continued his rapidly improving form this season while Mike Matthews and Tim Kaethner sustained the onslaught with a partnership of 43 for the eighth wicket. Tim passed 500 runs on his way to an unbeaten 26.
On a statisticial note:
Mark Wicks' score of 10 is the lowest ever (at least since WWII) by a player involved in a century partnership.
