D Grade vs Adelaide Cavaliers II

In a match dominated by Matt Laming, the D Grade exacted revenge over Adelaide Cavaliers (reversing the result from round 2 earlier in the season) and progressed through to their second successive finals series.

Day Two

Undoubtably the highlight of the day was beating the defence of Adelaide Cavaliers captain Robin Bradshaw after scoring only three runs. Robin's season average plummeted from 112.8 to 94.5 and he subsequently fell just five runs short of claiming the Adelaide & Suburban Cricket Association Section Six Batting Trophy. On a statistical note:
Matt's batting and bowling included the following highlights and achievements:

Passed 500 run and 50 wicket milestones
equal second fastest to 50 wickets, playing only his 15th match
first D Grade batsmen to bat throughout the first day of a two day match
third highest score against Adelaide Cavaliers (only Leith Wood (117* in 1995) and Darren Cheek (113 in 1999) have scored more)
equal seventh longest picket fence (18 consecutive singles taking score from 54 to 72) since 1945, and equal second in D Grade matches
fourth player to score 70 runs and take seven wickets in the same match
fifth highest individual score that has no sixes and no more than three fours (highest in D Grade).
